About Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal adjustments and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation. The aim of chiropractic is not just treating the symptoms, but to find the underlying cause of pain. Chiropractic is a protected profession in Finland and as such all Chiropractors are registered healthcare professionals who have successfully completed an accredited master’s level degree in chiropractic.

First time to a chiropractor?

The first visit consists of a careful patient history and physical examination, which is typically followed by treatment and self-help instructions. The most common method of treatment of chiropractic is a gentle, manual manipulation delivered by hand to the joint, which separates the surfaces of the joint briefly, thereby releasing the restricted joint. Your chiropractor may also choose other techniques such as soft tissue mobilization or a combination of both to best suit the individual problem.

Each patient and problem are different which means that all treatment plans are patient-specific, depending on the patient’s problem, the duration of symptoms and patient goals.

About Massage Therapy

Massage therapists are registered health care professionals who focus on treating muscle and other soft tissue problems using a variety of soft tissue techniques. Massage therapy aims to restore and maintain general health and wellbeing. The main way massage is believed to help is through increased blood flow to the affected area following treatment.
